Gone Fishin'

"The Dock at Gouldsboro Lake" Jason Kapcala

Went fishing at Gouldsboro Lake with my father and had a decent outing (for me, at least, considering I only manage to get out fishing a few times a year now). Caught four crappies (a couple of them small, a couple decent sized), lost a perch at the boat, and missed a few others. My father fared a bit better (a half dozen crappies, a perch, a few pickerel, and a nice bass). Most of the fish were right around that nine-inch mark, and in a couple of years should be really good size. I fished a plastic worm with an artificial leach, pulling it right along the weed bed, and the fish were just barely gumming it, hanging on the line and striking near the top of the water, as they were on the feed. (They almost felt like weeds themselves.) It was a beautiful morning to be on the lake, overcast and cool with a warm breeze at our backs. Perfect conditions.

As they say, even the worst day fishing is still better than most days doing something else. I've included some pictures in the slideshow below.
